Hannah Shields, Piano

Pianist Hannah Shields has performed widely throughout the US both as a soloist and a chamber musician. She recently appeared as a soloist in the Bach concerto for four keyboards at Carnegie Hall under the baton of Itzhak Perlman. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she was a student of Daniel Shapiro, and a Master's degree from Yale School of Music, where she studied with Claude Frank. She recently completed her studies at the New England Conservatory of music, where she was a student of Vivian Weilerstein. Ms. Shields is a prizewinner of the Kosciuszko Chopin Competition, and has attended numerous music festivals, including the Yellow Barn Music Festival, the Banff Chamber Music Festival, and the Taos School of Music. In the fall of 2004, she founded the Novarte Trio with Luis Esnaola and Sébastien Gingras. The Novarte Trio subsequently served a residency at the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival, performed throughout the Boston area, and coached chamber music through the preparatory division of New England Conservatory, and appeared in concert at Boston's Jordan Hall. An active chamber musician, Ms.Shields has also collaborated with Itzhak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman, Barbara Stein Mallow, Andre Emelianoff, and Kathy Murdock, among others, and she has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Weill Hall, the Seattle Opera House, the Metropolitan Museum, and Alice Tully Hall.
